Free Workshop · My marriage is hurting

You’re not bad at marriage. Your nervous system is running the show.

When conflict escalates, you’re not choosing your reaction. Your nervous system already made that call. One free hour on why the spiral happens, and the exact point where it can still be interrupted.

Why This One

The spiral has a shape. You can learn to see it.

If you took the Marriage Resilience Assessment and conflict or repair came back as your lowest area, this is the workshop that goes with that answer.

Here’s the part almost nobody explains: “just communicate better” fails because communication was never the actual problem. By the time you’re flooded, heart rate spiking, stress hormones surging, the part of your brain that reasons and empathizes has already gone offline. You’re not choosing to escalate. Your body already decided for you, before you had a say.

So this hour doesn’t start with communication skills. It starts with what’s actually happening in your body when the spiral starts, and where you can actually catch it.

The Cycle

Four moves, one spiral

1 · The activation point. Something happens, often smaller than it looks from the outside, and your body reads it as a threat.

2 · Flooding. Heart rate spikes, stress hormones surge, and the reasoning, empathizing part of your brain goes offline.

3 · The protection pattern. Fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Not a character flaw. An old survival response doing exactly what it was built to do.

4 · The cycle. Your pattern meets theirs, and each one convinces the other to protect harder. Nobody started it. Both of you are keeping it going.

Say it plainly

“You’re not bad at marriage. You’re two nervous systems protecting themselves in opposite directions.”

Neither of you is the villain in the spiral. Your pattern isn’t wrong, and neither is theirs. They just meet in a way that makes each other worse, and that’s what this hour teaches you to see and interrupt.

The Hour

What we actually do.

First

Name your pattern

Fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. All four are protection, not a character flaw, and you cannot logic your way out of one once it’s already running.

Then

Map how it meets theirs

Most spirals were never really about the dishes, or being late, or the tone of a text. They’re two protection patterns responding to each other, each one convincing the other to protect harder.

Then

Locate where regulation can happen

Once flooding sets in, the part of your brain that could actually repair is offline. The interruption has to happen before that, or after it, never in the middle of it.

Last

Practice the reset

Before you leave. A body that has practiced pausing once finds it easier the next time it matters, when it’s not a workshop, just a Tuesday night.

Free, one hour, on Zoom. If nothing is listed yet, the workshop calendar has every date as it goes up.

After This

Where it goes from here.

This workshop names the spiral. Seeing your pattern and theirs already starts to loosen its grip, but seeing it once in an hour isn’t the same as building a new response under pressure.

Tonight you walked through one spiral, probably your most familiar one, and stopped at the interruption point. You didn’t get the actual repair protocol tonight, that’s on purpose. One hour builds one rep, not a new nervous system response, and that takes real repetition.

The Marriage 8-Week Group Intensive is where that repetition happens: eight live weeks with Chariti and a few other couples, working the regulation and repair skills together, spiral after spiral, until it’s not something you’re performing under pressure, it’s just how you respond. If you’d rather see the whole path first, from the free assessment to the self-paced course, that’s all laid out in one place.

Honest About Scope

One hour is one hour.

Coaching is not therapy, counseling, or crisis intervention, and a free workshop is none of those either. If what you’re carrying involves ongoing harm or your own safety, that deserves more than an hour and more than this. If you’re in crisis right now, call or text 988.
