They don’t teach about grief from a distance. They walk from the middle of the story, honest about pain, rooted in hope.
Chariti and Casey lost two of their sons. There’s no sentence that can carry the weight of that, and they won’t pretend otherwise. In the years since, they have wrestled with faith, grief, and what it means to keep moving when the ground gives way beneath you.
What they found wasn’t a formula or a five-step fix. It was a slower, truer thing: the discovery that understanding precedes restoration, that you have to make sense of what happened to you, and the lies pain wrote, before what was distorted can be restored.
Joy Restored grew out of that road, and out of years of training and formation in inner healing, neuroscience, and spiritual formation. It’s the practice and podcast they wish had existed in their own darkest seasons.

The name comes from Isaiah 61, the promise of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. Joy, in that promise, is not the denial of pain. It’s the fruit of restoration.
That’s the whole conviction of this work: healing is the doorway, restoration is the destination, and joy is what grows there.

Behind every pattern is a reason it once felt necessary.

Grief given a voice before God is not weak faith. It’s honest faith.
The God who authored Scripture designed the brain. There’s no contest to referee.
We don’t produce restoration. We participate with the Restorer.
