A word of encouragement

“Stuck” is an underrated word. It is not despair and it is not crisis, which is exactly why it goes unaddressed for years, sometimes decades. Nothing is wrong enough to force the issue, so nothing changes.

The fact that you named it anyway, without a catastrophe making you, is worth noticing. Most people wait for the ground to give way first.

What I heard

Not pain, exactly. A gap. Some sense that there is more available to you than what you are currently living, and no obvious first move. You also said you are not sure where to start, which usually means one of two different things, and they need different answers: either you genuinely cannot see the problem, or you can see several and cannot tell which one is load bearing.

What may be underneath

Stuck is rarely a motivation problem. If it were, you would have solved it, because you have clearly tried. More often it is that something you believe about yourself quietly rules out the move you would otherwise make. Not a dramatic belief. Usually a boring one, in the background, that has never been said out loud: this is probably as good as it gets for someone like me, or if I wanted it enough I would already have done it, or starting and failing would be worse than not starting.

Those sentences do not feel like beliefs. They feel like realism. That is what makes them effective, and it is why naming one is genuinely the first move rather than a warm-up.

Where this lives

Most likely Soul and Purpose: what you believe about yourself, and what you are for. But “stuck” is the one word that most often turns out to be misfiled. Plenty of people arrive certain it is Purpose and discover it is Body, that they have been exhausted for two years and mistook it for apathy, or Relationships, that there is one conversation they have been avoiding and everything else is downstream of it.

That is worth ten minutes to check rather than assume, which is why the first thing below is free and takes about that long.

Your next step

Take the Formation Snapshot before you buy anything. It costs nothing and it answers the precise question you asked, which is not “how do I grow” but “where do I start”. Then do one thing in the lowest-scoring domain this week. One. Not a system, not a morning routine, not a plan you will abandon by the eleventh.

If you want to go further

Your season fits the Personal Formation door, whole-person growth across all five domains, for people who are ready to become rather than only cope. See what’s on that path →

If it turns out you want somebody paying attention to the whole picture rather than working through it alone, the 12-month Formation Journey is by application and starts with a conversation.

Scripture to sit with

Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.

Psalm 139:23-24 World English Bible

You asked where to start. This is the same instinct the Snapshot is for: ask to be shown rather than assume you already know.

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6 World English Bible

Stuck is not the same as finished, and the work in you was not yours to start or to keep going on your own.

From Chariti’s work, made for where you are

  • The Formation Snapshot (free), fifteen statements across all five domains. Built for exactly your question. Whichever domain scores lowest is where this season’s work actually is, and it is frequently not the one people expect.
  • The False Beliefs Guide ($7), for putting words to the background sentence. Short, and you can do it in one honest evening.
  • Breaking Free ($37), the full course, for when naming the belief is not enough and you want to trace it and replace it rather than argue with it.
  • The Group Intensive, the same work walked live on Zoom with Chariti and a handful of others. Worth knowing about now, because stuck is the one thing that tends to stay stuck in private. A room with other people in it is often the actual intervention.
The JR Guide is a guided tool built on Chariti’s teaching. It is not therapy, counseling, medical advice, or a crisis service. If you’re in crisis, please reach out to 988 (crisis hotline, call or text) or someone you trust.
